Timpani is a type of percussion instrument. It consists of a drum surface、 a drum drum、 and a drumstick. The timpani is the cornerstone of an orchestra or symphony orchestra. It is made of a copper or brass resonant shell (resembling a basin)、 tightly covered with cowhide or plastic face leather. The timpani is a single skin membrane sounding instrument that is expensive in cost. The timpani can produce a fixed frequency (i.e. pitch) sound and can change pitch within a range of five intervals. The sound is soft and full、 the volume can be controlled、 and different intensities can express different music content、 sometimes even directly playing the melody. There are two types of performance methods: solo and rolling. Single accompaniment is often used for rhythmic accompaniment、 while rolling accompaniment can imitate thunder and have realistic effects. As a colorful percussion instrument、 the timpani drum has a rich expressive power far beyond that of ordinary percussion instruments. The timpani can be divided into three types in terms of specifications: large、 medium、 and small. In symphonic bands、 there are usually three to four、 played by a single musician、 which can achieve the harmony effect of the drum itself. On the surface、 the timpani is almost the easiest instrument to play、 but in reality、 drummers need considerable confidence and a sense of time to successfully master it.
