Glass fiber is an excellent inorganic non-metallic material with a wide variety of properties. Its advantages include good insulation、 strong heat resistance、 good corrosion resistance、 and high mechanical strength、 but its disadvantages are brittleness and poor wear resistance. It is made from six types of ores、 including pyrophyllite、 quartz sand、 limestone、 dolomite、 borosilicate、 and boromagnesite、 through high-temperature melting、 wire drawing、 winding、 weaving、 and other processes. The diameter of its single filament ranges from a few microns to over twenty microns、 equivalent to 1/20-1/5 of a hair thread. Each bundle of fiber precursor is composed of hundreds or even thousands of single filaments. Glass fiber is commonly used as a reinforcing material in composite materials、 electrical insulation materials、 thermal insulation materials、 circuit substrates、 and other fields of the national economy. Material properties Melting point: Glass is a type of amorphous material with no fixed melting point. It is generally believed that its softening point is 500-750 ℃ Boiling point: about 1000 ℃ Density: 2.4-2.76 g/cm3 When glass fiber is used as a reinforcing material for reinforced plastics、 its biggest characteristic is high tensile strength. The tensile strength is 6.3-6.9 g/d in the standard state and 5.4-5.8 g/d in the wet state. Good heat resistance、 with no effect on strength when the temperature reaches 300 ℃. It has excellent electrical insulation properties and is an advanced electrical insulation material. It is also used for insulation and fire shielding materials. Generally、 it is only corroded by concentrated alkali、 hydrofluoric acid、 and concentrated phosphoric acid. Main characteristics: Raw materials and applications: Glass fiber has higher temperature resistance、 non combustible、 corrosion resistance、 good insulation and sound insulation、 high tensile strength、 and good electrical insulation than organic fiber. But it is brittle and has poor wear resistance. Used to manufacture reinforced plastics or reinforced rubber、 as a reinforcing material、 glass fiber has the following characteristics. These characteristics make the use of glass fiber much more extensive than other types of fibers、 and its development speed is also far ahead. Its characteristics are listed as follows: (1) high tensile strength、 small elongation (3%). (2) High elasticity coefficient and good rigidity. (3) Within the elastic limit、 the elongation is large and the tensile strength is high、 so the absorption of impact energy is large. (4) It is an inorganic fiber with non combustible properties and excellent chemical resistance. (5) Low water absorption. (6) Excellent scale stability and heat resistance. (7) Good processability、 can be made into products of different forms such as strands、 bundles、 felt、 and woven fabrics. (8) Transparency can penetrate light. (9) Good adhesion with resin. (10) The price is cheap. (11) Not easy to burn、 can melt into glass like beads at high temperatures
