This standard specifies the method for determining the water content of surfactants. Products with a moisture content (mass fraction) greater than 5% in powder、 slurry、 and liquid form can be distilled using xylene azeotropic distillation. However、 the azeotropic distillation method is not applicable to products containing water-soluble volatiles、 such as those containing ethanol. The Karl Fischer method is an acceptable method for powder、 slurry、 and liquid products with a moisture content (mass fraction) less than 1%. However、 the sample contains alkaline compounds such as silicates、 carbonates、 hydroxides、 and selenates、 which will affect the measured values. Therefore、 the alkaline compounds in the sample should be analyzed before measurement. 2 Normative References: The clauses in the following documents become standard clauses through reference in this standard. The amount of free water、 crystalline water、 adsorbed water、 or retained water in the sample is calculated based on the amount of Karl Fischer reagent used and expressed as a mass fraction. Principle 4.1 The water in the Karl Fischer method sample reacts with iodine and sulfur dioxide in the Karl Fischer reagent、 and the Karl Fischer reagent is calibrated with an accurately known amount of water by titration in advance. Calculate the mass fraction of water content based on the amount of reagent used. HzO+I+SO:+3CH、 N → 2C HsN - HI+CH N - so、 HgN - so、+CH、 OH → C、 H、 NH - OSo、 OCH、 4.2 azeotropic distillation method: The water in the sample is azeotropically distilled with boiling xylene or petroleum、 and the water content is expressed as a mass fraction. 5 Reagents and materials 5.1 Distilled water: Grade II water specified in GB/T6682; 5.2 Anhydrous methanol: analytically pure; 5.3 Karl Fischer reagent; Note: If applicable、 pyridine free reagents can be used (indicated in the test report). 5.3.1 Karl Fischer reagent containing pyridine; 5.3.2 Karl Fischer reagent without pyridine; 5.4 Sodium tartrate or oxalic acid: analytically pure
